Reading guys minds...?

i've been hanging out and hooking up with this guy for a few months. at first i thought he was just using me as a hook up, but then he asked me out to dinner. we went out and everything went great. he told a few of my friends that he wanted to be exclusive with me, but he doesn't want a girlfriend right now. so we aren't considered "dating" but we are considered exclusive in the means that we only talk to each other and only hook up with each other. he calls me and texts me and IMs me all the time. what does this sound like to you? do you think he likes me as more than a hook up? is there any way to tell?
