I have a 20.GAL freshwater tank with 3 black skirt tetra's.?

I am going to add atleast 2 more to make it 5 black skirt tetra's. How long should you wait between adding fish to the tank? A week or more then that. AND, What other fish, preferably colourful fish go good with black skirt tetra's.
