Hate new highlights. My fault or the hairdressers?

So yesterday I got my hair highlighted. I'm a brunette and I wanted red highlights. My hairdresser suggested a new kind of color that would last longer and be more vibrant. I selected a reddish brown color. Well, it came out like Ariel the little mermaid red. It does not look like anyone's natural color. Do I only have myself to blame or should I be a little miffed at my hairdresser. (She is going to try to fix it).
